John and Lynn met and married in Arlington, Texas in 1974. They both created art before they met, which then turned into a shared passion that they have carried along with them throughout their marriage.

Both are self taught, beginning with realistic drawings, which in recent years has branched into oil painting as well. Their most prolific time was in the 1980’s in which they did commission work and showed their work extensively in the Arkansas, Texas, and Oklahoma region. They have recently begun to create art again, doing their own work and taking on commission work as well.

John and Lynn have two daughters who also do artwork. Their daughter Molly lives in Providence, Rhode Island. Their daughter Mattie lives in Ponca, Arkansas and will be on hand at John and Lynn’s home studio during the Ouachita Art Trails studio tour. Molly and Mattie create their own work and take on realistic commissions, but Mattie has recently branched out into mixed media creating works with found objects.

John, Lynn, Molly and Mattie have received dozens of awards at juried art shows including 8 Best of Show awards. The family’s work can be viewed at their Speece Studios website at www.speecefineart.com.
