Sandra McMaster
Sandra McMaster delights in creating art and sharing with others her knowledge and passion for problem solving. She believes that one’s life experiences and expectations are the source and inspiration of their creativity. She knows that life often changes the “best laid plans.” While in training as a Veterinary Technician, health issues intensified and developed into an autoimmune disorder, and subsequent allergies to animals. While at OKC and Tulsa Zoos, she was sharpening her field observations which transfer well to the skills in drawing from life, though she didn’t know it then. Art then became another avenue for her love of creativity. Sandra sincerely believes that life has silver linings and it is up to us to seek them out, that learning is a treasure hunt for knowledge, and that no matter where we are in life, if we are willing to truly open our minds, hearts, and eyes we can learn most anything. Sandra has derived much joy in being Art Instructor at RMCC from 1993 through 2009 and appreciates her former teacher and mentor Monta Black Philpot for her encouragement and recommendation. She also gleaned much advice and knowledge from the art faculty at HSU where she graduated in 1993. S. Sandra’s favorite subjects are anything that makes her chuckle and favorite mediums are always whichever one she is working with at the moment. She will be exhibiting/demonstrating at the Mena Gallery, as her studio, like herself, is a work in progress.
